Q: Forehead or ear — which is more accurate? A: Ear (tympanic) mode is slightly more accurate; forehead is more convenient and works well for sleeping children. Use the same mode consistently when tracking a fever over a few days.
Q: How far should I hold it from the forehead? A: 1–3 cm from the center of the forehead (above the eyebrows). Too close or too far will throw off the reading.
Q: Is it safe for newborns? A: For infants under 3 months, a rectal thermometer is the most reliable method. Use this thermometer for routine forehead checks once the baby is older, and always discuss any fever in a newborn with a doctor.
